Cautions on Using Microwave Drying Sterilization Equipment for Packed Food

Currently, with people’s pace of life speeding up, the demand of packed food are synchronously increasing. While at the same time, the demand of food safety and food nutrition are being more and more strict. In this point, the standards of sterilization and retaining fresh are more and more important.
Traditionally, the manufacturers use high temperature sterilization for the disinfection of packed food which can easily kill the germs but destroy the appearance and flavor of the food. The lacking of proper and efficient sterilization techniques have slowed down the development of packed food, while the emerging of microwave drying and sterilization equipment helped solve the problem of packed food processing efficiently.

Microwave drying sterilization equipment has the advantages of low temperature sterilization, keeping the nutrition and appearance of the packed food which makes it widely used in the drying and sterilization of beef jerky, dried pork slices, sauced duck and chicken, pickle and salted products. In addition, the microwave packed food can kept for long time, which will suitable for long term transportation and selling.
However, with these advantages, there are still some points for attention when using microwave drying and sterilization equipments to process packed food.

Firstly, the package of food should be penetrated. It is undoubtedly that microwave has high penetrating ability, the common materials like plastics, glasses and paper can be easily penetrated and will cause no pollution. But materials like metal and aluminum foil can reflect microwave and can’t be penetrated, thus the package of the food can not use these materials which contains metal or metal components.
Secondly, when using microwave for drying and sterilization of the packed food, the food may give out heat which will cause the rise of air pressure in the package, if the pressure is too high the package will probably burst. So the sterilization process must be done before sealing or use vacuum package.
